Aloha,
Today was our last day doing regular day care for H. Almost six years. Of course we’ll have her on school holidays and summers and sick days. But. This is the end of one of the most thrilling chapters in our lives and it really feels like it. Of course Karen and I are excited for her new experiences at Twin Cities German Immersion School (TCGIS) but we’ve enjoyed this little angel … beyond words.
The kids surprised Grandma with flowers this morning, so there were a few tears. To celebrate this special day we headed to downtown Stillwater for lunch on Leo’s patio. Karen ordered ice cream for the kids straight off the bat (it comes fast, a lot faster than food) and when they brought out the ice cream in soda glasses, H was impressed: “F-a-n-c-y!” H&G both had full views of the streets from our table (a plus) and Gus commented on every motorcycle (“John’s going to take me for a ride on his motorcycle…. When I’m a little bigger.”)
After lunch H&G ran up and down the riverfront, got to see the bridge go up for the paddleboat and invented all kinds of games in the gazebo. A fun and fitting “end” to these special years.

You’ve given our children an incredible gift; for which we will be forever grateful!
We love you both and thank you to the moon and back.
The flowers were entirely Harper’s idea. “I”m sad that I won’t have grandma/grandpa days anymore… I think we should get them flowers to thank them for taking care of me.”

What she said…I was just going to relate the same story. Both of you have played no small role in H’s development into such a thoughtful, dear gal.
