Woke up at 3:00 thinking of E&Z&H&G coming to Maui Thursday. I almost can’t believe they will really be here! It wonder what the kids will think of all this….
Morning routine same as yesterday. Lunch was at Star Noodle. I was going to get a noodle bowl but Karen suggested we share several small plates. We had a refreshing Granny Smith apple drink, tempura prawns, Thai crepe (Karen’s new favorite) and chicken yakatori. Even the condiments were outstanding.
When we got back to the condo Rusty was out enjoying the ocean in front of our place. He and Nancy don’t have a beach in front of their condo so they come over to use “our” beach. I think it’s cool that all the Hawaiian beaches are public and even the expensive resorts must have public access to the beach. Anyway, Rusty looked like he was having so much fun Karen and I joined him. Water temperature and waves were perfect and the sand bottom goes further out than we’d even go. When Karen called time because she’d had enough sun, we grabbed lounge chairs and read until it was time to shower off and get ready to enjoy another picture-perfect sunset; lots of people out tonight. Chef Karen prepared curried chicken salad for our dining pleasure.
Weather was perfect all day. UV index: high of 8 (often it is a 10 between 12:00 – 3:00). We MN people need to say out of the sun in these times until we get a good base tan and even then sun screen is in order.
I started a new book, 90 Percent of Everything, about ocean shipping–interesting overlap with the Captain Phillips book.
It’s 8:00 and I’m ready for bed. Sun, water and fresh air make a boy happy and tired.
