Maui 2015: Days 6 & 7
Sunday we planned on going to Kahalui to greet Richard and Judy but their flight was delayed and then delayed again so in the end it was so late we agreed to just meet up for breakfast at Duke’s.
On our daily walk I saw a beautiful red hibiscus and took a photo for red-is-my-favorite-color-although-I-love-all-colors-except-for-pink-and-purple Gus. John and his son continue to make good progress replacing crumbling steps. We hung around the lanai and beach today, reading. I finished the book on the aircraft carrier and started another on a pilot for Marine One, the President’s helicopter. We did venture out to the Fish Market to get mahi for fish tacos. There’s a Hawaiian fish poster there and I was surprised how many we have had.
Monday we went over to greet Richard and Judy at their place just a mile or so south of us at the Westin. This leg of their stay they have an ocean front room with a gorgeous view. After breakfast, we headed to Kihei’s bird sanctuary boardwalk. It’s taken years to build so it was great to finally be able to take the walk. We had lunch at Coconut’s Fish Café, a place Karen found in Top Maui Restaurants. Guess what? I had the mahi. J
In the afternoon, we headed off in our own directions until it was time to gather at our condo for our traditional pre-sunset drinks, sunset watching, conch blowing, and dinner.
Aloha, David…great pictures! We sure miss being there with you all. Are you playing conch solo? I see you have a beach again this year. Please give our best to Karen, John and Irene. Mahalo, Mike.

I loved the photos. With the horrible rain and wind on Sunday I figured their flight would be really delayed. We left Chris and Scott’s early in the morning. On Hwy 12 on the way to our house we were hydro planing. It was a very scary ride home. Glad to be home and watch the rain from the window.
Today is beautiful We went to St. Helena and had lunch. A beautiful drive with all the green grass, tulips and mustard.

Love the photos…all of them. The bird sanctuary walk sounds good. I especially liked the rowers and wind sailors (if that’s what they’re called). They look so free and easy on the water.
