The manager of Hoyochi Nikko Condo, Irene, just posted the last two pictures today. The first picture is from when we were there a week ago. Irene said the ocean took two days to remove all the sand. The first year we rented there, 8 years ago, the beach was like in the first picture. Since then we have had much more sand. One year when we were there we saw the process of the ocean starting to taking the sand back. John, the care taker, pointed out to me that the ocean was coming into shore at a different direction and that was when the sand is removed. The area where the sand is caving in is the stair way.

Thanks for the article! Last year my son and daughter-in-law stayed on Molokai for several days while we took care of the grandkids on Maui. They had a great time and have some lovely stories to tell about the people there.
