Flowers, flowers everywhere! Their color is always SO welcome.
It was a double rainbow morning the other day. And we learned (ahem!): the primary rainbow is from light reflected off the back of a raindrop, while the secondary (dimmer) rainbow is from light that is reflected twice. So the colors in the second rainbow are inverted. Aren’t you glad we looked that up?
That same morning, a humpback mom, right off our shoreline, was teaching her calf to slap its tail. Over and over and over and over and over.
Once and awhile when we are here we crave an at home, no car day; yesterday was such a day. Karen and I spent the afternoon sitting by the ocean, reading and chatting with people we know here. I thought it was worth a try to put the beach umbrella up (even though Karen said it was too windy and told me I was crazy) to give me some sun protection. But it was quickly clear that the wind was going to have its way. Jeff, an owner, came to my rescue, grabbing the out of control umbrella and placing a towel over my head. Karen couldn’t help but laugh and take a picture.
Kris, these colors are for you!

The colors ARE beautiful, sometimes I forget how drab it gets here! Incredible to see the whales in their natural habitat; so sweet to see the mom and baby together. Love the picture of you and Karen!

I love all the color! An at home no car kind of day in Maui is my kind of day. 🙂

Thanks for the color! When we got off the plane it felt like we went into a black and white movie!
The whale photos are fantastic! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a photograph of a mom teaching the baby.
I love the photo of you and Karen too–you both look happy and relaxed.
A fantastic post today!
Aloha!

I’m still waiting for a photo that shows you blowing the conch.

Aloha Mike!
I will ask Karen to take a picture. Jeff and I both blew a conch last night. I will check and see if anyone has a photo.

Beautiful photos – you must work for the Hawaii tourist department – they make you want to come on out & enjoy the scenery up close! Except maybe the one of you with the towel over your head … Thanks!
