This past week we got to hear the kindergarten class perform some German songs. (When I would talk about Gus’s “concert,” he would pointedly tell me it was a “musical play.”) His favorite part seemed to be bowing; he practiced during the performance and afterwards did it with great gusto.
The next day Karen and I were back for Gus’s graduation (both kids had the incomparable Frau Heindel). It was a low-key affair with a slide show of the year’s kids and activities. A good contingent came out for Gus (undoubtedly we had the biggest turnout with Eric, Rosanna, Grandpa Whitey, Grandma Karen and me).
Friday was the first day of summer vacation, and Gus and I did it up right by finding a great swimming pool. Harper wanted to stay back with Grandma and do her thing, which is part of how we roll: as much as possible, let the kids do what they want.
Bring on the summer fun!
