Airport and Art Day.
JoAnn and Richard had to head back today. JoAnn needed to be at the airport early, so we dropped her off then headed to the Maui Cultural Center for the Schaefer Portrait Challenge exhibit—a state-wide juried exhibition of Hawai’i artists and their depictions of people in their island communities. We all had our favorites and voted accordingly.
Lunch was at Marcos “Italian Food,” a place close to the airport and seemingly non-descript but the food was absolutely delicious. Once we were fueled up, it was Richard’s turn to be taken to the airport. Then the remaining four of us went upcountry to The Sacred Garden and the Weekend 1 Open Studios tour, with painting, woodworking, pottery, and sculptures. Karen and Susan also picked up some local honey from the beekeeper.
Once back on the west side, Susan and Cal got settled into their new place and Karen and I luxuriated in the quiet stillness of the ocean and sunset.
I love the photo of the brothers!
